Anything with a link works. If you can paste it into a browser, you can put it on a Spinek.

Made by a person, not a warehouse
Hand assembled in Lake Zurich.
Every Spinek is printed, assembled and engraved by hand in Lake Zurich, Illinois.
- Tested and paired. Every one is tapped and paired with a setup instructions link before it ships, so you know the chip works.
- Patent pending. The v2 design is ours, and the engraving on the back says so.
- Small imperfections are normal. Each one is made by hand, so no two are exactly alike.
- 30-day returns. Not for you? Send it back within 30 days. Arrives broken? We replace it and you keep the old one.
Against everything it replaces.
Before you buy.
Does anyone need an app to use it?
No. Tapping it needs nothing at all. iPhone XR, XS and newer, and Android phones with NFC switched on, read the tag natively, with no app and no setup.
The one time an app is involved is when you write your own link onto the tag. For that we recommend NFC Tools, a free third-party app on the App Store and Google Play. It isn't ours and isn't affiliated with Spinek. It's just the one we've found simplest. Full walkthrough on the pairing page.
Does it need charging?
Never. There's no battery and nothing to plug in. The chip is passive - it draws the tiny amount of power it needs from the phone that's tapping it, which is why a tag works the same on day one and in ten years.
What happens if it gets wet?
The chip is sealed inside the body and has no battery, so rain or sweat won't stop it working. It isn't rated waterproof, so don't plan on swimming with it.
The bearing is the part that minds. It's steel, so repeated soakings will eventually rust the balls and the spin will get gritty instead of smooth. The tag keeps working, you just lose the nice flick. If it gets properly wet, dry it off and it'll be fine.
Can I change where it points later?
Yes, as often as you like. The chip is a rewritable NTAG213 - write a new link over the old one any time. No account, no subscription, nothing that expires, and these chips take somewhere around 100,000 rewrites.
What can I point it at?
Any URL: LinkedIn, Instagram, a Linktree, a booking page, a Google review link, a YouTube video, a Maps pin. On Android it can also carry a contact card or your Wi-Fi details. On iPhone, point it at a page with your contact or Wi-Fi info instead.
How big is it?
55mm long, 34mm wide and 5mm thick - about the length of a house key, and thin enough to sit in a pocket without a bulge. The bearing is a 6704-2RS sealed steel unit, the same type used in machinery, and a steel split ring is included.
How fast does it ship, and what if I don't like it?
Every Spinek is made to order in small batches in Lake Zurich, Illinois. Orders ship within 2-5 business days, and USPS delivery usually takes another 2-5 business days. US shipping is $3.99 flat, and free on orders of $25 or more (the 2-pack ships free).
If it turns up damaged, or the chip won't read, tell us within 30 days and we'll replace it. You don't need to send the old one back. Changed your mind? Return it in resellable condition within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the product price. Details in the refund policy.
Why might mine look a little different from the photos?
Every Spinek is hand assembled in Lake Zurich, Illinois, so small imperfections are normal. Each one is tested and paired with a setup instructions link before it ships, so you know the chip works. Tap it when it arrives to see the instructions.
It isn't opening on my phone. What do I check?
Thick, metal or magnetic phone cases can block the tap, so try it with the case off and hold it on the back of the phone for a second. On Android, make sure NFC is switched on in settings. If you wrote your own link in an app like NFC Tools, paste only the link, starting with https://. Any text in front of it stops the link from opening.
